My Son's Mickey Mouse 3rd Birthday Party!

Hi, everyone! How was your weekend?

My son's third birthday was on Saturday and we had his birthday party yesterday. He LOVES anything and everything Mickey Mouse, so obviously that was the theme for his party this year. I busted out my Cricut machine for the first time since his birthday party last year and made all the decorations myself. I also made his birthday cake from scratch. This was time consuming and a little bit stressful (especially assembling and decorating the cake), but I love baking and crafting and making all these fun decorations. Seeing the pure joy and happiness on my son's face was 100% worth it.

This was my very first multi-tiered, detailed cake. I've never worked with fondant or used a dome cake pan before, but I think it turned out good for my first time! The "red" tier is four layers of cake. I made two layers of chocolate and two layers of vanilla. Then, I filled the dome pan with Rice Krispie's treat and I covered the Rice Krispie's treat with black fondant for "Mickey's" head and I used two pieces of corrugated cardboard for the ears and covered those in black fondant as well. Next, I used small wooden dowels to connect the ears to the head. The shoes are Rice Krispie's treats as well.

As far as decorations go, I decided not to go overboard. My son loved what I did make, but he was mostly interested in the food and playing with his cousins. I made Mickey's head and pants and glued on the phrase "Come Inside It's Fun Inside" on them and taped the two pieces to my front door.

I had two banners and I just realized I forgot to get a picture of the one I made, so I'll have to pull it out again and snap a picture later. I purchased this Mickey Mouse banner. I was going to make one that was similar, but I ran out of time.

For the gift table I used one black plastic tablecloth and one red plastic tablecloth to, again, resemble Mickey Mouse. I purchased Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse headbands for each guest to wear and take home, and added that to the gift table.

For food, I arranged the fruit to resemble Mickey Mouse, I made "Mickey Mouse" Oreo's using red melting chocolate and mini Oreo's, I made Jell-o cups using red Jell-o, whipped cream, and mini Oreo's, I used little puns for some of the food (pictured), and I arranged the black plates and bowls to look like Mickey Mouse as well.

That's everything I did for my son's 3rd birthday party. Have you ever done a Mickey Mouse themed party? What fun things did you make?

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful week!
