My Makeup Collection 2018: Eyeshadow Palettes

Hello, everyone!  How was your weekend?  It was sunny and warm here for a change!  David and I worked on our garden and got a lot of veggies planted.  This is our first time having a garden, and I'm so happy to finally have one.

Today I have my favorite MMC post for you!  Eyeshadow palettes have always been my weakness when it comes to purchasing new makeup.  Specifically limited edition palettes and palettes with beautiful packaging.  No matter how hard I try to purchase something different, I always end up buying a new eyeshadow palette when I have extra money to spend.

What is your favorite drugstore eyeshadow palette?  I need to purchase some soon because I have mostly high end palettes.  I've had a few drugstore eyeshadow palettes in the past, but they've all been underwhelming or terrible quality so I ended up giving them away.

Boxycharm Unboxing - September 2017

Hello, everyone!  How was your weekend?

My Boxycharm came in on Friday and I wanted to share with you everything that I got.  If you don't know what Boxycharm is, it's a monthly beauty subscription service that includes 4-5 full size beauty products for a reasonable $21.00 a month.  We actually received 6 products this month, which is pretty cool.  This month's theme is "Boxy Baddie" and the total value of my box comes to $141.00!  We were also given a coupon code for 25% off of your entire purchase at purcosmetics.com  The code is BOXYSEPT if you want to use it.  It's valid until 10/15/17.  ;)

Pur Cosmetics "Soiree Diaries" Eyeshadow Palette - $34.00
Unfortunately, the mirror in my palette was shattered during shipping, but somehow the shadows remained intact.  I've been subscribed to Boxycharm for over a year now and this is the first time I've received anything broken.  I just put some clear tape over the glass for now.  I may depot these shadows and put them in a Z Palette eventually.  The shadows are actually very nice.  They're pigmented and smooth (with the exception of Twinkle - that one is a bit chunky).  It is a fantastic neutral palette.  I'll have a separate review + swatches post on this palette up on Thursday.

Briogeo "Don't Despair Repair" Deep Conditioning Hair Mask - $20.00
I haven't tried anything from this brand yet (even though I already own another product from them), but I've heard great reviews of this brand.  I don't get too excited about hair products the way I do about makeup, but I'm always up to try out a new hair mask.

MAC Eyebrow Pencil in "Lingering" - $18.00
I was ecstatic when I learned that we would be receiving an item from MAC in this box!  I don't think I've ever seen MAC products in any other beauty subscription before.  However, we did just receive a different eyebrow pencil in July's box as well, so it's not like I need another brow product.  I'm not sure if this shade will match my brows but I'll give it a go once I run out of my ABH Brow Wiz.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in "Strip" - $6.00
We also just received a ColourPop Ultra Satin liquid lipstick in the box from July as well.  Thankfully, I really like this formula because it isn't drying and it feels comfortable to wear.  I'm not a huge fan of this shade though.  I'm not into super nude or brown shades.  I just don't think these types of shades look good on me.

Studio Makeup "Loose Blush" - $35.00
I don't think I've ever used a loose powder blush before.  This one looks like it will be a nice shade though.  It's pretty sheer with the first application, but the pigmentation is buildable.  There's a lot of product in this jar as well which is nice if you have to build up the color quite a bit.

Bare Minerals "Face Perfecting" Brush - $28.00
I remember watching a bunch of YouTubers review this brush when it was first released and I really wanted to try it out myself.  I never did get around to picking it up, and I was so happy to see it in my box this month!  *Update* I've used this once with the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream and it left a ton of brush marks on my face.  I'll try it out using different foundations and update this post later.

That's everything I received in this month's box!  Overall, my box wasn't too bad.  I was pretty bummed out about the broken palette, but I'm really glad the shadows are fine!  The CP liquid lipstick isn't my color, but only one disappointing product out of six isn't awful.  Especially since it's the cheapest product.  Haha!

Are you subscribed to Boxycharm?  If so, are you happy with what you got in your box?

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you have a great week!

Studio Makeup On The Go Cool Down Palette Review + Swatches

Hello, everyone!  Happy first of December!

In September's Boxycharm I received a nine shadow palette from  Studio Makeup that I wrote a separate blog post for.  Well, in November's Boxycharm I received another nine shadow palette from Studio Makeup, and I thought I would write a separate blog post for this palette as well.

This palette is called Cool Down and it has nine cool toned shadows.  The shadows are very smooth and pigmented.  There is one shadow though that is very rough and chunky (first shadow on the left in the middle row) which I'm not a fan of, but it's still a beautiful color.  Like the other palette, this palette does not come with a mirror, which for $49.95 it really should IMO.  The packaging for this palette is exactly the same as the other OTG palette, which can be confusing if you own more than one like I do now.  It still has the same cardboard packaging that I don't think is ideal for traveling with.  Yes, they're lighter, but in my experience they get damaged very easily.

Anyway, here are the swatches!

I actually really like the shades in this palette.  I've used this palette a few times already and I really liked how they all applied and looked all day.  What do you think?  Honestly, even though I like these shades, if I had $50 I would rather spend that money on either a Make Up For Ever nine shadow palette, Too Faced palette, or an Urban decay palette.  They're all around the same price but better quality.  I wouldn't pay full price for this palette, but I am very glad that it came in my Boxycharm.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you have a good weekend!

November 2016 Boxycharm Unboxing

Hello, everyone!  Happy Thanksgiving!

I received this month's Boxycharm in the mail recently and I wanted to show you everything that came inside.  The theme for this month is Groovy Town, and the total value of this box comes to $134.94!

Studio Makeup On-The-Go "Cool Down" Palette - $49.95
Swatches and full review for this palette will go up next week!

Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Pen - $20.00
The applicator for this eye cream is very interesting, it has a squishy gel consistency.  I recently ran out of the eye cream I was using, so this came at just the right time.  This is very cooling and felt so nice on my eyes.

Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme in Antique Pink - $20.00
This is a liquid to matte formula.  It's a stunning shade and it smells soooo good!

Vintage Illuminating Face Highlighter in the shade Rose Gold - $32.00
This is the only product in this month's box that I'm not excited about.  It's a face highlighter, but it's wayyyyyy too dark to use on my skin tone.  I know I could use this as a blush, but I already have a blush that's a similar shade and I very rarely use it, so I know I would never use this one.  I didn't swatch it because I'm going to be giving this away.

Crown Brush C513 Pro Detail Crease Brush - $12.99
I'm always up for trying new brushes so I'm pretty excited to use this!

And that's everything that I received this month!  Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.  However, I can't wait for the day when Boxycharm comes out with a survey for their customers to choose their skin tone, eye color, etc. so I won't keep receiving products that I can't use.

Did you get your Boxycharm yet?  What products were in yours?

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a great weekend!
