Boxycharm Unboxing - July 2017

Hello, everyone!  How was your weekend?

I temporarily cancelled my Boxycharm subscription after I received February's box due to other financial obligations (taxes, ugh), but I'm happy to say that I was able to resubscribe this month.  Boxycharm is my favorite subscription box, so I'm ecstatic to be receiving this service again!  For those of you who don't know, Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription that costs $21.00 a month and contains 4-5 full size beauty products.  This month's box theme is "Cutie Pie" and has a total value of $127.00!

Project Beauty "Spray. Set. Go." makeup setting spray - $32.00
I do not like this spray nozzle.  It sprays out unevenly and in huge drops.  I wouldn't spray it on my face after applying makeup because I was too afraid of the spray ruining all my hard work.  I just finished off a travel size bottle of the Smashbox Primer Water, so I transferred about half of this setting spray into the Smashbox bottle and I'm using it that way.  My makeup lasted all day long after applying this, so it does work, but the packaging absolutely sucks.  For $32.00 I shouldn't have to transfer the product to a better bottle.

Blinc x Boxycharm "Electric Eyes" eyeshadow palette - $45.00
These shadows are incredibly smooth and pigmented!  I honestly wasn't expecting the quality of these shadows to be very good, but I'm pleasantly surprised.  Since these are highly pigmented and creamy, there is a bit of kick back in the pan and fall out, but that's something I'm willing to live with for good quality.  Amazing as these shadows are though, I don't think they're worth the $45.00 retail price.  You only get five shadows and all of them are shimmers so you can't do a complete look with this palette alone.

WinkyLux "Uni-Brow" universal eyebrow pencil - $12.00
I was so worried that this brow pencil wasn't going to be good for two reasons.  First, I'm always a bit skeptical when a product says "universal" because it usually doesn't work for me, but this shade actually matches my eyebrows perfectly.  Second, when I swatched this on my arm it was stiff and it took a while to see any pigment, but when I used it on my eyebrows it was gave just the right amount of pigment - not too dark, not too light.  I'm not a fan of the spooly brush though.  I prefer the spooly on the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pencils.  The actual brow product is very nice though.

ColourPop x Hello Kitty Ultra Satin Lip in "Lock Diary" - $6.00
I have a confession.  This is my first ColourPop product.  I don't know why I just never got around to checking out their website and placing an order, and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner!  This Ultra Satin Lip is insanely pigmented and is actually comfortable to wear.  The shade is stunning as well.

BareMinerals "Invisible Light" translucent powder duo - $32.00
These powders felt stiff and a bit chalky when I did my swatches.  Fortunately they still look good on the face.  The highlight is subtle and nice for people with fair-light skin.  The translucent powder doesn't look cakey under my eyes and it brightened my skin a little bit.  There is A LOT of kick back in the pan with these powders.  I like it, but it's probably not something I would buy only because I prefer loose powders and blinding highlighters.

What do you think of this month's box?  The only product that I don't like is the setting spray and that's only because of the packaging, so I'm calling this month's box a hit!

Are you subscribed to Boxycharm?  What did you receive in your box?

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great week!

Influenster Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip Voxbox Product Review + Swatches

Hello, everyone!  How has your week been so far?

I was sent three shades of the new Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified lipsticks and the Line & Define lip primer for review.  Each lipstick retails for $24.00 and contains 0.25oz of product and are available in 12 shades (plus an exclusive shade for Sephora VIB Rouge members).  These are creamy, moisturizing, and highly pigmented.  I found that the demi-glaze satin finish doesn't completely dry down and will unfortunately transfer.  However, these lipsticks are comfortable to wear and they smell amazing!  The lip primer retails for $22.00 and contains 0.05oz of product.  I really appreciate that there is a removable sharpener at the bottom of the tube.  This primer is nourishing while it extends the wear time of lipstick and prevents feathering.  The consistency is silky and lightweight.  If you're anything like me, you'll quite enjoy the minty scent of this primer.  Bite Beauty lip products are made with natural and organic ingredients and are free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

What are your thoughts on these lipsticks?

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope this was helpful.  Have a fantastic weekend!

Influenster Kat Von D Beauty Saint & Sinner Voxbox Product Review

Hello, everyone!  How was your weekend?

I recently received samples from Influenster of the Saint and Sinner perfumes from Kat Von D Beauty for review.  Saint and Sinner were originally released in 2009, but were unfortunately discontinued.  However, after 8 years of fans begging for the two to be revived, they've finally been relaunched in revamped bottles.  Both scents are available in three sizes with prices ranging from $22.00-$85.00 and can be purchased at Sephora, sephora.com, or katvondbeauty.com.

Saint is a sweet, floral perfume with notes of vanilla, jasmine, and musk that I feel is perfect for an everyday, daytime fragrance.  Sinner is a warm, spicy perfume with notes of cinnamon, wood, and patchouli for a sexy, evening fragrance and would also be an excellent choice during the Autumn and Winter months.  Both fragrances share the same floral base, so these complementary scents can be combined.  Personally, I quite enjoy the scent of the two combined.

Are these new to you, or have you been a fan since they were originally released?  What are your thoughts?

I hope this was helpful.  Thank you for stopping by!

Beauty Product Empties - June 2017

Hello, everyone!  How was your weekend?  God, can you believe it's July already?!

I finished off a few more beauty products last month (not included in my annual Project Empty challenge) and wanted to give you my thoughts on them.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner face mask - This starts out clear and turns a pale blue shade when it's time to remove it.  The cooling sensation feels nice and this doesn't feel extremely tight on the skin after it dries.  However, I didn't notice a difference in the size or amount of my blackheads after using this.  Because of that, I won't be purchasing the full size of this (especially since the full size is $47.00 for 1 ounce).

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream - I initially really liked the scent of this lotion, until I applied this all over my body.  The scent is overwhelmingly strong and it takes a long time to fade.  As a moisturizer, this is okay.  It's very thick but it blends out and absorbs fairly quickly.  I did notice that I had dry, flaky patches on my arms after using this that weren't there before and are gone now that I've switched back to my regular body lotion.  So for those reasons, and the $45.00 price tag, I won't be purchasing the full size of this.

Hey Honey Good Morning face serum - This felt so nice on my skin.  It's supposed to brighten your skin, but unfortunately I didn't notice any difference after using this.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a fun and safe 4th of July!
